CAMWEST News June 2011
Activities with the Parramatta Cycleways Committee
Hi, even though we have been quiet on the website, we have been quite busy. We have five representatives now on the Parramatta Cycleways Committee representing Northmead, Winston Hills, Old Toongabbie & the Children's Hospital Westmead. We are all active within our communities in other areas as well as cycling, so we have a broad cross section of the area covered.
Ride2Riverstone Family Bike Ride on 1 May 2011
We were actively involved in the organisation and running of the Ride2Riverstone Family Bike Ride on 1 May 2011 in conjunction with the Riverstone and District Lions Club. We were also very ably supported by the Rural Fire Service and neighbouring Lions who provided 98% of our volunteers.
Two new rides; Ride to Work Day
Rob Kemp is actively running rides again and there are a couple coming up shortly. Rob and I also joined with The Hills Chapter of Bike North last Saturday (18/6/11) to look at updating and creating cycling maps in The Hills area. We will be supporting Ride to Work day this year in conjunction with Parramatta Cycleways Committee and hopefully we will run some test rides for prospective participants in the lead up to the day.
New Ride Leaders
We also hope to have at least two new ride leaders trained by Bicycle NSW in the near future which should increase our rides. If you are interested in becoming a ride leader and would like to attempt the course, please contact me for further information. CAMWEST is happy to cover costs if you successfully complete the training.
New Contact Email Address
You will also notice new contact information at the top right hand side of the home page. We were receiving upwards of 100 spam messages on some days, so we have had to look at a way of reducing this. It is difficult at times to separate the spam from the real mail, so if you have sent us a message and have not had a reply, it may have gone through to the spam filter.
